My teaching style varies from student to student based on playing level, musical interests, and personality. I use a mix of method books and aural learning techniques. The student's musical priorities always come first!
I have been playing music my whole life. I began playing piano at six years old, saxophone at ten, bass guitar at thirteen, and guitar at fourteen. Throughout my high school career I played a variety of rock band gigs on guitar, bass, and keyboards; I also played a variety of jazz gigs on saxophone. Currently I am a music student at William Paterson University, and am graduating this May with a degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching, and specifically teaching music, has been my passion for years. While tutoring, I use a wide variety of methods, including metaphors, diagrams- whatever the student requires to learn the material. I am exceptionally patient with struggling students, because I know that losing patience solves nothing, and given the right materials and knowledge, the student will succeed. I believe very strongly in the potential of people to do exceptionally well, even when they may not realize that they are capable. I have had various experiences from Pre-K through the middle school age, with a strong concentration in Language Arts at the primary level. I am Elementary School certified K-8 and I am Highly Qualified in LAL. After three years in a self-contained elementary classroom in Hudson County I took a childcare leave of absence and have yet to return full time to work. I have received my degree in Teaching/Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. I have a passion for Writing, Language Arts and Reading Recovery.
