I have completed all College level Math classes for an Electical Engineering degree. Math is my area of expertise. Every few months I conducted "lunch and learns" for programmers and analysts. During these sessions I would describe what code was doing in a particular module. This would help them with their implementations.

I have found that any student can learn. The key to a student's success is that education must be approached in the correct manner for that individual student. Not all students learn in the same fashion, and that must be considered in planning and implementing lessons. I believe that education needs to be approached in a fun way that coincides with the student's individual interests and learning styles. At a major university, biology and engineering students, let alone chemist need to take general and organic chemistry. So it is required to tailor how I tutor to what they needed. In some case it was a guide through problems because they knew the basic information and could not correlate from one step to the next. I like to use real world examples of how math concepts are applied to give the student a better understanding. I believe that a big reason many high school students struggle in understanding concepts of algebra, geometry, and calculus is that they are unable to visualize how it is applied to the real world.
