A Little Bit About Me...

I have been substitute teaching for 12 years in various subjects with a diverse group of students. I have also been employed as a home bound instructor for students with illness and or discipline matters for 2 years for grades 8-12. I have been tutoring privately for 12 consecutive years in multiple subjects. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and 33 credits of teaching education at the graduate level. I have also worked summers at the YMCA with developmentally delayed adults and children.

After graduating from Ithaca College cum laude, I completed my B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2 and 1/2 years. I was a business major my freshman year at Siena College and realized I would rather be working to help others then sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. I really enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages. I believe everyone is able to grasp the concept of math and science when taught effectively and with patience. In 2006 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in History and English. In 2008 I received my New York State Teaching Certificate. Starting at the end of 2008 I became a substitute teacher in Liverpool Central Schools and in 2009 for Baldwinsville Central Schools as well. After becoming a substitute teacher I quickly honed many skills in order to be an effective teacher. I can identify and help students with learning disabilities because I myself have a learning disability. Although I myself was considered to be a slow learner and I had (and still have) dyslexia, I never the less taught myself how to study and how to get through high school, college, and graduate school. I can help the students on their own level because I have been there and I know how frustrating it can be to have to study without having the right tools.
