More About This Tutor...

After graduating from Ithaca College cum laude, I completed my B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2 and 1/2 years. I was a business major my freshman year at Siena College and realized I would rather be working to help others then sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. I have volunteered in a kindergarten classroom for one year, working with groups of 4-5 children in learning centers. I have provided speech therapy for two clients under the age of 8 during my clinical practicum in Spring 2009 at the Sir-Alexander Ewing- Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic. I have developed language goals for a 4 year old with a disability while involved with the Racker's Swim Buddy Program in Ithaca, NY. I have a passion for working with children and enjoy helping students succeed. For more experience, I can send my resume.

More About This Tutor...

I really enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages. I believe everyone is able to grasp the concept of math and science when taught effectively and with patience. I am a very easy going and friendly person, and I have been told I explain things with enough detail to understand, but not too much to bog down the information. I am a firm believer in teaching through fun riddles and games, and always relating the problem back to the student's personal life, hobbies, etc. I honestly believe everyone is able to be great at math and science, and a great educator will make a world of difference in pursuing the sciences.
As a recent graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, I am excited to begin helping high school and college students with math and science, as well as technical and essay writing. I have earned a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a MS in En ... read more

More About This Tutor...

In 2006 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in History and English. In 2008 I received my New York State Teaching Certificate. Starting at the end of 2008 I became a substitute teacher in Liverpool Central Schools and in 2009 for Baldwinsville Central Schools as well. After becoming a substitute teacher I quickly honed many skills in order to be an effective teacher. My classroom management skills grew exponentially to ensure safety in the class as well as an environment in which learning was promoted. My teaching style expanded due to the different types of students. Also my knowledge of child development was stretched from working with students K-12 in integrated classrooms.
My teaching style will vary depending on the class as a whole or the type of student I am working with individually. In order to be an effective teacher I have seen ... read more

I can identify and help students with learning disabilities because I myself have a learning disability. Although I myself was considered to be a slow learner and I had (and still have) dyslexia, I never the less taught myself how to study and how to get through high school, college, and graduate school. I can help the students on their own level because I have been there and I know how frustrating it can be to have to study without having the right tools. I not only tutor students but I also give them the right tools to be able to study and learn for themselves.
I have spent most of my career in helping students with learning challenges and other special needs. My strongest asset is that I am very good at teaching students on a one-to-one basis. I have tutored a lot of students who are considered to be slow learners or who have some kind of learning disability. When I first starte ... read more
