Solve ALL your problems with a math tutor!

I generally work through an example while explaining. Then as the student works the problems, I instruct by asking prompting questions with decreasing frequency until the student can complete problems without any assistance.
While completing my degree, I worked in the math department as a tutor. I often had several students with various subjects simultaneously. It was a challenge to constantly switch topics, but I apparently did it so well that I almost had a regular class that showed up every time I was on duty. Several students told me that I explained things on a level they could understand as opposed to the high-level language the professor used. I have also done private tutoring since then.

Passionate Elementary Education Tutor

I love teaching and I love to see the spark in a child's eye when they finally understand a subject they have struggled with! I am a certified special education instructional support aide for an elementary school in northwest Fort Worth. During the school year, I work in Resource and Content Mastery with special education students that are in general education classes but need additional instruction in Reading, Math, and Language Arts. I also provide additional assistance through Content Mastery to students in Science and Social Studies. I am currently pursuing a second Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Special Education as well as pursuing teacher certification through Texas Teachers. More About This Tutor...

I believe the true way to teach is to make a connection for each student: relate the material to something the student already knows. A more “hands-on” approach will allow the student to learn faster with greater retention. I feel that every student has the ability to learn, and that it is the teacher’s job to provide each student with the connection. In today’s age, classrooms have become over-crowded thus making it more difficult for the teacher to make that connection. It is the job of the tutor to fill in the gaps. With this theory, I try to use my experience in the work field to relate the subject matter to the student’s surroundings – hence math and science are my forte. I work well with children by making learning fun, but also have the knowledge of complex problems to provide the same environment for high school and college students.
