Physics is one of my top subjects! Have completed PhysicsI-III, Modern and Classical

In my experience as a student, I have often questioned the teaching methods of many teachers and professors. I sometimes realize more effective ways things could be explained, once I understand it. I am patient and sympathetic with those who misunderstand a concept. I enjoy the challenge of applying my ability to explain a topic from multiple angles of comprehension.
I was raised on a farm in Iowa and attended school there until I was 13. In Zephyrhills, Fl, I was awarded valedictorian status for the class of '09. At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona Beach, Fl, I am a senior in the Accelerated Master's of Science in Engineering Physics degree program. This is a rigorous five-year program and is focused upon the engineering and physics involved in space systems. I remain in the Honor's Program and on the Dean's List. I have been tutoring since I started college so I have over 5 years of experience in tutoring math classes and 1 year experience in physics. I have worked in a tutoring center for about 2 and half years and learned a lot. Most experience comes from tutoring in the center and private tutoring consolidated my experiences.
I believe the goal of the tutor is to teach the student through real-world applications and to make the student self sufficient.

Along with tutoring, I have also led clinics on learning styles and how to discover the ways you learn. Because of this, I am able to help a student who may not know the ways by which they learn best. I can not only help them discover effective study skills to use while alone, but I can adapt the way I teach however I need. My philosophy is to teach a student to become self-sufficient when it comes to studying and learning. The day a student no longer needs me is the day for which I strive.
During most of my time in college, I tutored my peers. Striving for degrees in Biology and Chemistry, I was required to take a wide range of math and science courses. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that teaching is a process of helping students to discover their own learning potential. The learning experience is an adventure the parent, student, and I will embark on together. Each student has the ability to learn and excel through a process of building one's confidence, discovering one's learning style, and capitalizing on one's strengths. Our tutoring relationship will begin with a discussion of the goals of the learning experience. The result will be an empowered learner with increased academic performance, but more importantly, skills and confidence to continue learning in the future.
My experience is very much what your child's experience could be. I was raised with limited financial resources by a single parent in the state of Florida. I found classroom lessons catered to the "typical student" difficult. Fortunately, I had some wonderful teachers and a p ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Each child is different. I always try to notice and acknowledge what benefits each student, as I think this applies to all forms of teaching from academics to athletics. Getting on their level is what ultimately benefits the child from the get go and gains their interest. If I'm interested, then the child is interested. I do my best to make sure the child is setting their goals and doing their best to achieve them in the way and style for which they are best suited.
I have two bachelors degrees, however, I believe it is my experience teaching children that has helped me develop a good sense on how to approaching teaching scenarios. I have years of experience teaching children in academics, music, and dramatic arts, as well as coaching basketball and teaching golf at the professional level.

After sub teaching the last couple of years I have found most kids want to learn but need a lot of "structure". If their personal "structure" isn't there it is difficult for them. This is also true for kids who are advanced. I believe in no cell phones, electronic devices, and trying to figure out what each child strengths and weaknesses are and then use those strengths to help them learn. I am not against having background music playing during homework time because it doesn't bother other children. It is a problem however in the classroom.

I graduated from UNF in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in the field of Management. The degree required classes in Accounting, Finance, Algebra and Economics. Mathematics has risen to be one of my preferred subjects, tutoring this subject for a year to date.
I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so. My goal is to show in real world, understandable terms the subjects we will work on. I believe that if a child is explained the rules in terms and words he/she understands, then he/she will grasp the material and carry it with them into the future rather than trying to cram for an exam with no retention.

I find great joy in watching a child progress in their education. All children are capable of learning at their own pace, and through repetition. Your child will find success and ease in their academics through my assistance. I am patient and understanding, yet persistent. I firmly believe in encouraging a child to discover his/her strengths in order to overcome whatever obstacles may present themselves.
