My comments on tutoring Poetry : Whether free verse, or ABAB or ABBA, i am a poet Wiz. I Started out writing lyrics for my band, and that grew into free verse, discovering new metaphors and similes, for each given situation

I have struggled with the areas I am not proficient in, so I understand what it is to be frustrated and confused. My teaching style is presenting various approaches to the same idea, in hopes that at least one will click, and better yet, each approach with solidify an idea or concept that much more.
Being an undergraduate at WPI and haven taken several Advanced Placement classes in areas outside of math and science, I consider myself a very well rounded student. I was also strongly considered for a MASH program here at the University, or "Math and Science Help", as a Section Leader/Tutor. Going through a lower-middle class urban high school, I was known as that "smart kid" and would often led study groups outside of class to prepare for tests.

College Undergrad Looking to Tutor English Students

While I have never conducted a formal tutoring session, I have edited the work of my peers and more recently assisted my girlfriend's younger sister with the completion of her college essay. From my experience, I have found that I prefer to work one-on-one with the student whose work I am editing. That way, I am able to explain my revisions and help them understand my reasoning behind making certain edits. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a wide variety of experiences with youths of all ages. I have volunteered my time reading to preschool students, coordinated and implemented an after school program in Providence as part of my course work, tutored several high school students to help improve their literacy skills, as well as substitute taught grades K-12 in the Foster/Glocester public school system for over two years.
