One of my many passions in life is working with kids, specifically tutoring them. I have found that it is easier to tutor a student when they know that they are surrounded by positivity. With this I am referring to the feeling of comfort and knowing that it's ok to be wrong. I notice more confidence in my students when I establish a friendship with them. In addition to this, letting my students know that even at different ages, we can still relate to one another. I love incorporating visual images, tangible objects, color, laughter, and fun in my tutoring sessions. I strongly believe that repetition is important when learning something new. I graduated with a BA in French and Elementary Education and taught for 4 years in multi-age classrooms. Then I tutored while I stayed home with my children. I resumed teaching 1995 and earned an MAT in Elementary Education in 1998. My experience continued in multi-age classrooms where I taught reading, math, English, handwriting, science, social studies, P.E., art, and music for grades 1-6. I also tutored students after school in remedial reading using Project Read. My approach to teaching is that all children can learn given opportunities in a "safe" environment. I taught many students with learning challenges and I had to individualize their program. I used multiple intelligences to help students learn using their strengths to help them with their weaknesses. It made learning more fun and easier for them to grasp.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona with a BA in English and a minor in History. I am passionate about writing and creativity in general. Many years of taking upper level English classes have given me much confidence in my paper writing and editing ability. In addition to all of this, I love to write creatively (especially poetry) in my free time. I have always felt very comfortable working with children. I previously worked as an after school teacher at a private middle school and ended up having a great relationship with all the kids.
