I believe the learning experience should always be an enjoyable one. I use humor from time to time in my teaching. A teacher can make the learning experience more enjoyable and more memorable by injecting humor into certain lessons. This has proved to be very productive, since many of my students have shown that they benefited from my instruction style by asking follow-up questions, clarifying issues in which they have confusion. I also encourage students to think on their own, so that as long as they can reasonably justify their line of reason, then they cannot be wrong.
I have earned a bachelor's degree in French, for that is the subject for which I have the most passion. I became interested in tutoring and teaching as an undergraduate. I began as a basic chemistry tutor, but quickly worked my way up to a lead tutor position. I then took on the responsibility of being a T.A. in both the chemistry lecture class as well as lab. After graduating college, my career led me on a path of training teachers, developing curriculum for schools and teachers, and finally into the position I am now, as a K-5 Technology Instructor. I have a BA in Psychology, MS in Zoology and BS in Computer Science. I have lifetime Arizona Community College certification in psychology, biology, ecology and remedial math. My experience with special populations includes: three years full-time on the Navajo Reservation; three years part-time at the SALT Center at the University of Arizona working with learning disabled students; and a hands-on nature camp for deaf middle-schoolers. My favorite experience has been the opportunity to design the curriculum, code the programs, and teach the student counselors for the U of A's Computer Science week-long summer enrichment program for teens.
