Society continues to foster the traditional belief that success in math and science is inherent, only to be grasped by those born with a particular talent level. Educational research by scholars such as Howard Gardner has shown this idea to be false and detrimental to student achievement. As research suggests, I have found through my own teaching that any student can reach a reasonable level of success in math and science with proper guidance, patience and encouragement. My graduate teaching assistant experience gave me a unique opportunity to understand what it takes to be a great teacher.I Taught general chemistry 1&2 and physical chemistry at the Univesity of Virginia. I have also worked in the industry for three years which which a practical understanding of Chemistry.
To become a great teacher one has to love the job, willing to give his best and most importantely be creative. I first beleive that all children can learn if they have the right instructor. To me science and math is much easier than history and other subjects, but you must follow the steps and remember the rules.I like to teach by using visual aids, other techniques like math-CAD.
