I feel my style of teaching is one of being a facilitator. I choose to interact with the student by asking questions so enabling them to reach the answer through their own thinking processes. After working in the Marketing/PR field for 5 years, I relocated to Puerto Rico to be with my husband. Not having a solid foundation of the language, I could not obtain a job in my previous field. It was at this time that I discovered the world of education. I began substitute teaching at the Department of Defense School and continued doing that for one year. We were then relocated to Savannah, GA and I was hired by a private school to teach 6th and 7th grade English, Literature and Social Studies. Algebraic concepts and formulas can often be, I have found, analogous to much simpler ideas or images. Once the abstract is related to the mundane, we can break down the barrier to understanding that can be an automatic or habitual construction for many people.
