please feel free to write me so i can help kids learn.

I have plenty that i've been tought so maybe using some of them could help the students understand better.
I am only 19 and i graduated class of 2011. I've had a lot of help when i was in school so i know it can be stressful and tough but i found it a lot easier when i got help from people. Kids may be shy or maybe they just find the work is to hard and there scared to get help but i'm easy and outgoing i don't force kids to do there work. It takes time for them to understand how to work things out how to talk to teachers.

Teaching and School Counseling Services In One Place!

I have been a teacher for the last fifteen years. I teach social studies, but my specialization is teaching argumentative (college level) writing.I have done plenty of SAT prep and tutoring for students at the high school and college level. I am also a school counselor and can offer a vast array of services including FASFA, Naviance/Common Application and college/career counseling.
My style of education is to teach by modeling. Students need to see things in a step-by-step format with instructions, followed by an immediate example. I also provide sample argumentative essays for students who learn by seeing a complete model. My counseling style is to work with students, first by building a rapport and then using that as the foundation to get a feel for their college/career interests. I then look at their grades to help them build a custom transitional plan into early adulthood.

Believe in yourself, and you are half-way there!

My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I try to figure out what works best for every individual and help them focus on their strength and improve their weaknesses.

Certified in Secondary Social Studies Education (7-12)

Everybody deserves a safe and equal opportunity to enhance his or her knowledge. It is imperative that teachers create a classroom environment in which every student feels as though he or she is valued, belongs, and can make a contribution without fearing ridicule or humiliation. Students will feel more confident and will be more willing to take chances if a comfortable learning environment has been established. Part of creating a comfortable learning environment depends entirely on the teacher’s personality. If the student feels as though the teacher is open, honest, sincere and caring, he or she will not only respect the teacher more, but will also feel comfortable learning from that particular teacher. I have been able to establish very good rapport with my students, and because of this, many students have been willing to go the extra mile on my behalf. Establishing good rappo ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Both my Education and work experiences have thoroughly enhanced both my knowledge, as well as my communications skills. Having a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, I have attained knowledge in various fields of science. I have been gifted with a natural ability to communicate, and my experiences in both work and study have enhanced both my verbal and my written communication skill. Both in college as well in camps, I have had the privilege of tutoring people, primarily in the sciences.
I enjoy helping people acquire knowledge. I have experienced the full spectrum of both poor and excellent instructors myself, so I am aware of what needs to be done in order to facilitate learning. I assess the abilities of each person I work with and develop an approach accordingly. I think that a combination of patience and humor can provide for an outstanding learning environment, and I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My educational career was full of challenges that have given me a broad basis of knowledge for tutoring. In high school, I earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. I subsequently earned a BS in Ceramic Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. I started tutoring in high school when I managed a literacy program that paired high school students with students at a local elementary school. In college, I tutored math and physics through a formal program at the high school. After graduation, I continued to tutor, and in the past six years, I have tutored many students in all levels of mathematics (elemenatary, high school, and college). I also tutor students in college test preparation (SAT and ACT), spanish, science, English, and reading.
I enjoy working closely with students and their families to achieve the student's goals. I know that the definition of "succe ... read more

My goal is to help your child achieve success. I explain real-life applications of the subject (i.e., metric system--repair of foreign cars.) I encourage questions and dialogue. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I remind him to read and follow directions and to check his work over before he hands it in. I believe that in this fast-paced technical age your child needs the best chance possible to compete successfully. I have found that even with one exposure, a good educator can have a huge positive impact upon a student's confidence and comprehension. It is very gratifying to both student and teacher when this occurs.
I have had a successful career as a medical scientist in hospital, government, and reference laboratories in the northeast and southern U.S., holding ... read more

After over decade of classroom teaching and preceding experiences teaching as a manager, I have developed a style that would be considered eclectic, at once rooted in the cognitive behavioral and infused with existentialist expectations. The key element is to reach each unique individual, assessing strengths and weaknesses, and facilitate an atmosphere in which students can find personal success while engaging the group dynamic. I spend a great deal of time examining just what it is I am doing as an educator, how I feel about outcomes and how I can adjust curriculum, practices, and in my case, administrative functioning to better serve my charges. Existing educational practices in no small way determine the modes and methods one uses to engage learners in and out of the classroom. However, teaching style and empathetic relationships to a great extent determine how students are engag ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

One constant holds between the middle-schoolers and Ivy League engineering students that I have tutored: simplicity works. My style is to eliminate any strange concepts or terminology and instead focus in on the basic principles underlying an idea. After the student understands the basic principle, he or she begins to apply it through examples, problem sets, or writing. As students become more confident, they will begin to understand the nuances of whatever it is they seek to learn. With a basic theoretical knowledge re-enforced by practice, students will be able to apply their new skills long after their tests and quizzes are done with.
As an Ivy League Physics-turned-Social Sciences major, I have mastered two distinct skill-sets: one mathematical and one analytical. My mathematical background includes single and multivariable calculus as well as differential equations. I have tut ... read more
