I have earned a bachelors degree in Accounting and Business Management, along with a minor in Economics. I have worked for Northwest Savings Bank for the past 3 years, in many different areas. In my position, I help produce a quarterly report that is given to the department heads and shows the overall financial position of the bank. I also help lenders determine the financial situation of a potential borrower. While in college, I began tutoring 3-4 fellow students in Accounting. I love working with all children and I believe that my experience working for Northwest Savings Bank would be an asset to helping children understand the finance and accounting world. I am very easy going, patient and considerate. My goals are to provide a child with the best education possible through real life scenarios. As an Academic All-American and SUNY Chancellor Award winner, I've always valued education. I tutored writing and englisg-related topics in college. I also was a state certified hunter safety instructor for two years. I spent 8 years teaching life and social skills to developmentally disabled adults and even was able to get one to craft his own poetry,which we both found very rewarding. I believe the best teaching involves personal attention to that in which the student's interests lie. Helping a student to see how a topic can have impact on his life will make the course relevent and help engage the youngster. I also believe in encouragement at each step and making a "big deal" about each success. I see myself as a mentor who wants the next generation to be better than my generation - pay it forward.

My philosophy is that education is power. Knowledge is our greatest defense and our greatest weapon. Through knowledge we gain experience, which enriches our competence, which protests the ills of society, which leads to a social justice, and most important, liberty. Learning is an activity that we should never stop, and if we do, we begin to die. I believe all children can learn given the appropriate avenues to success. Part of our job is to find those avenues and encourage our students to use them. I have been substitute teaching for 5 years. Within that time I decided that teaching was for me and went on to get my degree and certificate to teach. I have completed several long-term substitute teaching positions, picking up where a teacher left off, often times unexpectedly. I have taught classes in the elementary, middle and high school.
