My comments on tutoring Economics : My undergrad major. I also tutored for many years in Economics and worked as an Economics Teacher's Assistant at the University of San Francisco.

Style is one-on-one. The tutoring is flexible to accommodate different people's styles. However, tutoring is what one makes of it.
I work in the compliance/legal field in banking with over 15 years of experience with an educational foundation of a B.A. in Economics and a J.D. (i.e., law degree). When tutoring, I feel it is best to sit back and review the student's work and watch him/her in action. Once I have established where he/she needs work, I show the student a different way of looking at the problem(s). I use their motivations to demonstrate the value of learning the subject in which he/she struggles. I show the student different perspectives, diagrams, and use additional resources such as quiz games. I let the student know that he/she is not alone in his/her struggle. I become more of a peer as I let them know that I too have had tutors and was even placed in a special needs class as a child. Prior to graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in World Economics & Business, I interned with the Godman Guild Association. Working for the Youth and Family Services department, I collaborated with counselors in an after-school mentoring program designed to promote self-sufficiency and leadership development for 100-plus underprivileged teens. My most recent position as an English Teaching Assistant in France enhanced my communication skills ten-fold. This experience taught me to effectively convert difficult subject matter into simple and comprehensible explanations which could be understood by educationally-diverse groups of students.
