Teaching in a quiet area is preferred, where there is no distractions so that the student(s) can focus on the task they are trying to accomplish.
I am a Sophomore at The University of Central Missouri. I have helped with younger siblings, cousins, and family friends study or work on their homework. Working with children is what I am passionate about and to help them understand something or get a boost in areas needed would make me happy as well as you, knowing your child is now understanding the task at hand.

As a parent of two school-aged children I have had the oppurtunity to learn about the newest teaching methods employed by teachers at this time. We often work together on math and science. I also substitute in the Blue Springs, Grain Valley and Fort Osage School district in which I often assist students with work that has been left for them by the teacher, whether it be math, science or english. I am also a published writer and continue to write every day.

Laid back, but encouraging. If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature.
My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.

A Little Bit About Me...

I absolutely love working with children and will be sensitive to your child's needs and wants, and demonstrate a great deal of patience. I believe that learning should be interesting and as a very creative individual, I am well suited to finding a way to help your child learn in a way that is interesting to them and that they can relate to well. In the past, I've found that in subjects I find difficult, the teacher really does make all the difference, so I strive to make that difference and truly care about the child's success.
My degree in English at Rhodes meant that I studied a wide variety of literature, taking both analytical courses and courses that encouraged me to take what I learned from these writers and apply it to my own writing, further developing my skills as a writer, both creatively and as an analytical thinker. A Little Bit About Me...

My #1 goal is to help each of my students reach his or her ultimate academic potential. Every student has the ability to succeed academically. I believe that children learn best when concepts can be taught/explained to them in their own terms. Once a common ground can be extablished between student and teacher the learning process becomes much easier and the students gain the understanding that ultimately leads to academic stability.
I am a high school business and computer teacher. I have taught for 5 years. I throughly enjoy working with and getting to know my students. I tutored college and high school students while attending college, and I currently tutor middle school and elementary students in math, reading, and science.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching -- standing in front of a class of students, feeling the pressure of their attention and responsibility for their education -- but I think I enjoy tutoring more. Even when I was teaching a class of twenty-five college freshmen, I tried to move things in that direction, giving my students incentives to come by during my office hours (hard to do with such busy students). In the classroom, I made good use of the SMART boards (interactive computer displays), although I also enjoyed just talking to the students: I made the classroom a place that was relaxed and open to free discussion, but one which also had a purpose (basically, to learn to write). I enjoy teaching and working with children: my parents adopted my two little sisters when I was a teenager and decided to home school them, so I helped out with their education.
I recently completed graduate work in Engli ... read more
