Not every method works for every child; with one exception, patience. I demonstrate and exemplify patience. If a child feels as though they are in an atmosphere where they are safe, free of ridicule and bias, then they are willing to perform. This process can be a give take scenario however. So, some flexibility is required as well, but eventually the student will become more comfortable with themselves and confident in what they are capable of.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. I also have experience working with preschool aged children.
I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. A Little Bit About Me...

In college, I tutored grammar school, high school and college students in various math and science courses. Subjects included algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics. In graduate school, I trained graduate, medical and high school students in various lab techniques and concepts. I also played a large role in managing their laboratory projects. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to become a teacher. After graduating, I became a substitute teacher and also co-instructed an online course for my undergraduate college. I started my college education at Stanford University but finished up Cal State Stanislaus University with a degree in physical education and biology. I then taught primarily language arts and science at the middle school level for three years. After satisfying my educational wanderlust, I am now re-entering the educational field. I consider myself to be an extremely strong teacher, particularly in the language arts field.
