A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring physics, mathematics and chemistry at the college for Naugatuck Valley Community for the past six years. I have tutored all levels of math through real analysis ad differential equations ad all levels of undergraduate physics. I love what I do and have a great gift for explanation. Tutoring requires, beyond a thorough understanding of the subject matter, an ability to empathize with the student and take the fear out of something new and possibly very difficult for them. I have greatly developed these skills over the past several years.
I have found that the best way to teach math is through analogy and real world examples. I prefer to teach general as opposed to specific methods, as these are more widely applicable. I have experience a design engineer, Material failure analyst, project engineer, project manager and program manager. At the current time i am project/business manager for the lower pressure compression for aircraft engines. I have been tutoring since my sophomore year in college.

My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant practice of the newly learned skills. I've been "teaching" people all of my business career. I always start with the underlying theory and immediately segue into a practical example of how the principles work. I think students want to learn, but need the information presented in a way that makes learning interesting, not boring. I have that ability.
