A Little Bit About Me...

During my years as an undergraduate English major, I was drawn to the world of teaching and tutoring through two part-time positions, including one on-campus, with college-aged students, and one with elementary to high school-aged students. I loved seeing my students' pleasure at learning how to comprehend the words they read, to assimilate that information into an in-depth college essay, to finally grasp that one bit of knowledge that so alluded them. I taught students with learning and behavioral disabilities, and was good at my job (and loved it). During the last seven years, I have tutored students in writing, English literature, reading, reading comprehension, psychology, the arts, anthropology, and study skills. After receiving my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I started teaching special education while pursuing my Master's degree. I completed my Master's program in 2005 and received my certification in special education in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, I also received my certification in the state of Georgia. I have a variety of experience teaching different subject areas to students with special needs in grade levels ranging from k-12. A Little Bit About Me...

The past five years has provided me with an amazing amount of knowledge and experience. Completing a Master's degree in special education, teaching elementary students with disabilities, working as an adjunct professor and being the Director of Early College at Northwestern Technical College are just a few examples of those experiences. Instead, my goal was to educate students about the fundamentals of writing papers, such as formulating a clear thesis and establishing a clear paragraph structure.
