A Little Bit About Me...

Learning is my passion, and helping others realize the importance of education is an important goal of mine. I approach teaching as a helper and guide rather than a lecturer; I feel that most learning takes place when a person figures out the problem on their own with help understanding the theory behind the issue at hand. Everyone can learn, it is just a matter of how and where the learning takes place. As your child’s tutor, I will work hard to help him understand and learn the skills necessary to succeed.
As a graduate from South Dakota State University, I received a liberal arts education where I majored in Political Science and Global Studies with focus areas of history and religion. I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.
I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. My jobs included: private secretary to a County Judge, bookkeeper, loan processor for a savings and loan, receptionist, cashier, manager, assistant librarian and owner of an electric motor repair business.
