Writing is hard. For everyone. But it can be easier.

I allow students to discover answers by themselves by prompting them with questions. This hands off technique reflects the minimalist philosophy of the writing center I worked for, and I have found it is a far more effective way to help students grasp concepts which will globally make their writing better. Understanding the fundamentals of good writing is the most important tool to becoming a good writer; where merely diagnosing an issue and giving an answer for it leads to much more lazy writing in the future. That's what makes fundamental understanding so important, because it carries over into future assignments.

My comments on tutoring Reading : Reading is one of the core receptive language skills. I teach my students various techniques how to become better at reading. So far I have only tutored one student for a year or so. However, I am very knowledgeable in these subjects and hope to make the best of your child's tutoring experience. And despite my inexperience, I am more than capable of tutoring. I also am willing to respect the established rules and wishes that the student's caretakers have placed upon us meeting.
I use note-cards and mnemonics. I'm also fond of repetition (which will allow the student to obviously retain the information) and often do reviews at the end of a session to further examine what said student is struggling with.
