I use note-cards and mnemonics. I'm also fond of repetition (which will allow the student to obviously retain the information) and often do reviews at the end of a session to further examine what said student is struggling with.

My comments on tutoring Elementary : I love working with students when it comes to Elementary skills. I am a visual learner, as well as hands-on. More importantly, I want to sharpen my students' mental skills, helping them become confident.

An understanding tutor

The teaching style that I have always promoted is to recognize that everyone learns on a different level and at a different pace. Therefore, a step by step instructor is needed and that instructor has to know how to meet that individual needs based on what they know not what I know. You find alot of college professors teach lessons based on what they know and their experience not realizing that the some students learn at different paces.
