My philosophy of discipline is simple: observe, take data and find the function of the behavior. When a student misbehaves in class there is an underlying reason. Every behavior has a function. The function can be to gain access to an item or person, to avoid doing the work or aggressive behaviors if they do not understand the assignment completely, medicine or personal affects (hungry, sleepy or thirsty). I also believe in “brain breaks”. My students take a break every hour to get up, walk around, listen to music and get the wiggles out. I have volunteered over 80 hours combined from the summers of 2011-2012.I've worked with a diverse amount of students ages varying.Although I do mainly focusing on K-1 ,I am capable of helping any elementary student become successful and improve there selves in what ever it is that there struggling in. I am a certified teacher for the Phenix City, Alabama school system. I have 4 years of teaching experience. I have 2 years experience in tutoring. I interned at Lakewood Elementary School in Phenix City, Alabama for first grade and fifth grade. I was then hired on as a second grade teacher upon the conclusion of my internship requirements.
