I have over three years of professional writing experience. After graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas with my degree in Creative Writing I went on to serve as the President of the Houston Writers Guild for a full year and now serve on the Board of Directors at the Gulf Coast Federation of Writers. I have performed Freelance Editing since my graduation and led numerous Critique Circles for each organization I’ve worked with, learning to balance criticism with encouragement for optimal improvement.
I am a very hands on teacher and my preferred method is to have the student read their work aloud while I follow along and edit. It's remarkable how much they begin to catch on their own. This is followed through with my own take on their work, pointing out the errors they missed and suggesting improvements, always in an encouraging manner.
