My comments on tutoring GED : I have been helping students pass the GEDs for over 8 years. I have worked for large test prep companies in the past. I have worked with many school districts offering affordable GED tutorial sessions.

Most tutors merely act as a solutions manual for off the shelf test prep books. I believe in providing my students a fully comprehensive curricula that covers both strategy and subject matter. Every student learns differently and at their own pace. I strongly believe in diagnosing and targeting student's weak areas.
I have enjoyed tutoring since high school. During college, I tutored college level math and chemistry. After college I worked for a large test prep company teaching SAT prep courses in various high schools. My education background is in biology (BA Molecular & Cell Biology, UC Berkeley) so I especially love tutoring science and math. My expertise is in standardized test prep (mainly SAT and GRE for graduate schools). My experience is not only tutoring and teaching, but also developing test prep material for both SAT and GREs

Have been helping kids with their homework. Love to inspire and motivate people to further their academic standing. Have myself appeared for different exams like GRE, ToEFL and scored more than 90%. Competitive exams require a different approach than regular exams and I can help in both. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in the teaching field has been primarily as a substitute on a daily basis. I have some long-term sub assignments in my resume as well. For the past 7 years I have limited my assignments to "Home/Hospital". I meet 5 hours per week with each student to provide complete instruction in all subject areas for the student(s) unable to be in the regular classroom setting due to illness. It is very much a tutoring situation as 5 hours per week is not nearly enough to provide the detailed instruction available on a daily basis.
It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. Being a 1:1 teacher allows me the freedom and time to work with a student on a concept in a number of ways until the cognition sets in for him. Being enthusiastic and excited about the learnin ... read more

I have a very hands on approach to teaching. I would first explain how the problem is answered, then explain why it is answered in that fashion. I believe it is important to understand the why a problem is answered because then they can start to understand a little more about the keys to accounting. I would then help them with different problems in order for them to fully grasp the concept.
I graduated from Fresno State in 1990 and have worked in the private sector ever since. I started out as an entry level accountant and worked my way up to Chief Financial Officer. Currently, I am self-employed, helping businessed get out of a financial bind or to help clean up their accounting. Before I was an accounting major, I was a mathematics major. I have taken a great deal of math classes and I am very good with numbers. I decided on accounting rather than math because at the time ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with students since I was in Middle School myself. I went to college to become a special education teacher and am currently working as a resource specialist. I work with students who have learning disabilities, are at risk, have emotional disturbances, autism, or just need a helping hand. I have also taught in general education classrooms.
I believe every child is capable of matching and exceeding our highest expectations. Every child learns differently and that is my approach. I don't believe in cookie cutter education. I enjoying helping others and teaching them what I know, whatever age they may be. I am very patient and friendly, which are characteristics I find to be important in a tutor. Through support and encouragement, I feel that any type of learner is able to overcome their difficulties and be successful with their education.
