Art is my passion! In 2008 I obtained a degree in graphic communications at Clemson. My major required creativity to design certain types of print; such as labels, books, t-shirts, and brochures. I also took photography and art history. Although these classes required artistic talent, my true art education began in high school. I attended the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville for two years. As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very interactive. I like to hear what the student has to say, and to tune in to the best way to approach each student. I know that each of us learns in our own unique way, and that the best results are gained by honoring those differences. One of my proudest accomplishments was the success of one particular student, who, at the age of 40, was back in school, having finally been diagnosed with learning disabilities after being passed through the public school system.
