My comments on tutoring Reading : The thought of reading an entire book can be a daunting task for a child, but I strive to teach students that once you start using your imagination, reading can become one of your favorite things to do!

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.

My style of teaching is patience, understanding individual needs, and building self confidence in the student. I was a teacher's assistant for a second grade class in 1990 at Winegard Elementary School. I was a hearing-impaired interpreter at a YMCA youth camp for one week in 1990 at Tallahassee. For my last employer, I interpreted Spanish, German, and sign language for cast members and guests on a daily basis for almost 16 years.
