My teaching style is best described as Project based and differential instructions. I do not believe that students learn the same ways and need different teaching strategies to learn. In my class you can see multiple products of learning based on this approach to teaching. My style carries over into the private tutoring I provide. I have been teaching since 2005. My career began in Las Vegas, Nevada teaching 7th grade U.S. History at Sedway Middle School followed by Hyde Park Middle School (2005-2010). I have 2+ years teaching 11th grade AP and Honors U.S. History at Southwest Career and Technical Academy (2010-2012). My experience also includes teaching various social studies classes online at Beacon Academy of Nevada (2008-2011). I graduated from Ohio University in 1978 with a BS in Education. I went on to earn a Masters degree in Educational Administration. I hold two valid permanent teaching certificates and a professional license. I have been fortunate to have taught all grades and all subjects with the exception of 1st, 3rd, and 4th. I have also had the pleasure of being an ABLE instructor for adults. I am currently teaching high school, however have been offered a 4th grade position in math and science. I have worked with gifted, regular, and special education students. I continue to take classes at Ohio and Ashland University. Also, I am a Teaching Fellow for the Historical Society. I would to teach math because I have been applying math my entire life. I have a four year degree in mechanical engineering technology. I have used math extensively in my everyday job. The last sixteen years I have used math to figure out complex equations. My problem solving skills are good. I teach my kids math and reading. I love teaching my two young children. I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else. While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center.
