A Little Bit About Me...

I received a technology degree in 1975. Several years later I returned to college to persue a Physics/Mechanical Engineering Degree from SUNY New Paltz and RPI. I was an "A" student in Physics and enjoyed tutoring many classmates. I was a guest lecturer several times at RPI. Due to work and family commitments I did not complete the degree. My wife and I homeschooled our children through the primary grades. I taught sciences. While an Employee at IBM, I wrote and taight technical courses. Physics is my forte and I love talking about and teaching the subject. I am especially helpfull to students challenged by word problems. Throughout college I would host study groups in Physics and Chemistry. I currently am a financial advisor.

As a graduate from the State University of New York at Albany, I am driven to achieve the highest level of excellence in education especially in the following generations. I have received a BA in Chemistry and Pre-Med. These degrees have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of science, math, and english. I am an experienced, certified teacher of Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, with teaching experience from elementary school through adult learners. I hold a Ph.D in Foreign Language Education and am a national-level demonstrator teacher for Mandarin Chinese pedagogy. I graduated Cum Laude from Manhattan College with a double major in Psychology and Communications. In addition to studying for two majors, I was also a Division 1 athlete and held 2 jobs. My goal is to help your child achieve success. I explain real-life applications of the subject (i.e., metric system--repair of foreign cars.) I encourage questions and dialogue. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I remind him to read and follow directions and to check his work over before he hands it in. I believe that in this fast-paced technical age your child needs the best chance possible to compete successfully.
