As an unerdergraduate at Mississippi State University, I majored in geosciences with and emphasis on forecasting; that is meteorology.I served eight years with the army national guard and completed a year tour of Iraq. While in the national guard I learned valuable leadership skills and how to teach others to preform military tasks. While working on my geosciences degree I took several upper level mathematics courses including trigonometry, college algebra, and calculus. My background is fairly well-rounded. In high school I went to the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) and tutored high school students in the community in math and reading, as well as ESL. Also, part of the GSSM curriculum required students to do summer research at a 4-year institution in South Carolina. I did behavioral neuroscience research at USC. My interests then lead me to attend USC for college, and I went there for two years with a double major: English and Psychology.
