I prefer to help individuals learn at their own pace, using their own preferred method of learning: visual, aural, hands-on, or a combination. I use analogies and real world situations that students are familiar with to convey abstract concepts. Although I am patient and encourage fun in learning, I urge students to meet their goals and then exceed their own expectations.
As a graduate student, I taught beginning and intermediate German language classes for 4 semesters, receiving above average evaluations each semester. Even after I had completed my Masters program, I was asked by the Foreign Language Department to return for the summer semesters to teach as a lecturer. My teaching style is one of discipline and at the same time hands-on. Students must feel the relevance of the world around them in order to gain an understanding of what's being taught. I work with the individual but never let the focus off of the competition that's waiting. Students must understand that learning is an every day, every moment experience. While in attendance at the University of Arkansas, I earned two degrees, a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in American Studies. In addition to these degrees, I also earned a minor in History. As I was completing my undergraduate degree, I participated in varsity athletics, maintained a part-time job, was active in student government, and volunteered through AAO. I am capable of aiding in history, geometry, algebra, and other basic courses.
