Teaching and working with children is something that I truly love to do. Everyone has a different learning style. Seeing the look of understanding and comprehension cross a child's face is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can ever have. My educational and employment background are saturated in the area of marine and conservation biology. I am trained in micro, chemical and cellular biology. I've was a univ. lab tech. and helped students understand proper lab procedure and successfully complete of lab exercises. I have taught field methodology and stats analysis to UW students. I’ve trained volunteers of all ages and backgrounds in biological studies and proper equipment etiquette. My career has focused on the behavioral ecology of cetacean species; killer whale, humpback, and bottlenose. I've also studied conservation bio of Pac NW salmon. I am a native Spanish speaker and spent time in France and New Zealand learning French and Chinese.

A Little Bit About Me...

Experience with phonics(as a teacher of 1st graders, also experience with children who have learning difficulties, referred to by the school. These children ranged from kindergarten to 8th grades. Special emphasis on reading and writing. I taught in public and private schools and have tutored in my home 10 years. I recently worked with Professional Tutors of America, with junior high students in math.
I enjoy working one on one with children to improve academic performance. I have a number of books collected to supplement learning. I like using at least 5 different kinds of activities per session to keep interest. I enjoy working with phonics and have used it extensively to build performance. I enjoy using books that interest each child to help them have a great desire for reading.
