A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children and adults alike. Everyone can learn; it is up to the teachers to find out how their students learn best. I was 14 years old when my younger brother was born, so I had the wonderful opportunity to learn firsthand that teaching requires a great deal of patience, knowledge, and flexibility. My goal in teaching is to maximize efficiency -- find out how the student learns best and tailor the teaching materials to meet his or her needs.
My pre-medical school coursework allowed me to gain conceptual and hands-on understanding in the areas of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology. After four years in university, I had travelled abroad, presented two recitals, accompanied numerous musicians, performed in 6 ensembles, been published, and received a Teaching Assistantship, along with receiving my Honors BA in German and Honors BM in Vocal Performance with a minor in Piano. I have extensive tutoring experience in Music, German, Writing Composition, and Public Speaking. My students have been honored state and nation-wide in music and speech. Currently, my interests have broadened into publications and I have a book on remixing education. I began working with children at the age of sixteen. I try to understand the level of where the children are and build on that. I am patient, considerate, consistant, non-judgmental and feel it is not too early to start teaching or a child to learn. There is so much children can learn and we, as adults, can learn from them.
I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I then wanted to expand my enjoyment and empower others by obtaining my BSW. I have wanted to be a Social Work ever since high school. Even though, in the last few years I have not worked with the young population, I still enjoy all the things they can teach me.
