In high school, I tutored a second year student in French, mainly in grammatical concepts. In terms of mathematics, I was always a strong student in math. I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. My teaching style is simply and varies from student to student. I am a visual learner, once I see an example done; I try to use what I’ve learned to solve a similar problem. Some people don't learn that way, I try to pick up on the student’s best learning style (whether it’s by doing example problems, talking them out, or guiding them through their own examples) I can focus my help to try to suit them. I’m very patient and understanding when it comes to tutoring, I understand many of the difficulties people have.
