Portuguese is one of my top subjects! I have and still am teaching the Portuguese language at Morgan State University and Loyola University Maryland. Portuguese is my native language and I also speak English fluently.

I like trying new approaches when teaching as I believe there is more than one way to teach as there is more than one way to learn. I am very patient and I pay close attention to what my students have to say.
My professional and educational background consists of language and art. I have taught language and art to adults and kids. I am presently a part-time Portuguese language instructor at Morgan State University, and at Loyola University Maryland. I have experience in translation and simultaneous interpretation in court cases and in government agencies.

I have over 5 years of experience teaching portuguese for foreigners all over the world. My goal is to teach not only the grammatically correct portuguese, but also the day- to- day portuguese, in order to enable the student to communicate with natives.The Portuguese course is extremely broad, diverse and dynamic,allowing the student to develop his/her capacity of communication, listening comprehension, grammar, as well as cultural aspects of Portuguese language.

More About This Tutor...

Most of my teaching experience is from one to one tutoring. I have tutored over 20 students and always received compliments regarding my reliability, punctuality, style and patience. I have tutored for students with ages raging from 14 to 25 years old and included algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, etc. I worked as an 8th grade math teacher for a Catholic School as well. I lectured algebra and geometry to 3 different groups of 50 to 55 students.
My one to one teaching style is tailored to adapt to the students learning style. However, my experience shows that keeping the student active during the learning process promotes a better learning. I use Microsoft Excel during my lessons. I create formulas, graphs, etc. and the Excel spreadsheet and ask the student to enter the data so that he/she can see how things change with different entries. A Little Bit About Me...

During lessons, I am patient, calm, well-spoken, but challenging. I continually ask my students questions and make sure the focus stays on them and their learning rather than myself. I find that the discovery approach works well in my classes and students are always willing to participate in fun games and other activities that allow them to find the answer on their own. The best teacher is one that is always willing to learn and wants to help the individual become a well-rounded person, not just someone who can always give the correct answer.
