After graduating from Florida State University, I received a job at DISC Village in Tallahassee Florida as a Prevention Counselor in the Beta program. This program was school-based and involved working with at-risk middle school students at Wakulla Middle School. My duties included instructing 12-26 students in 6th-8th grade in social skills, behavior improvement, drug prevention, and study groups/tutoring sessions. I developed individualized student plans according to each student's needs. Also, I did extensive work in one-to-one or small-group situations, assisting students with assignments, achieving learning outcomes, and meeting behavioral goals. I am a mother of two school age children with entirely different learning styles and a college graduate who has tutored friends and family for the past 14 years.
