A Little Bit About Me...

I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.

As an Early Childhood teacher, I have chosen what I believe to be a very important position in society. I have both a BA and a MED in Early Childhood Education. I have taught school for 27 years. I believe ever child has his or her own level of learning. That level can be intrapersonal, interpersonal, visual,etc. Every child must be worked with and not looked over. Not every child learns at the same pace. I am a believer in giving every child a chance. We as educators must find out what level of learning the child is on in order to assist the child's learning needs. If we fail to assess those needs, we have failed the child.
