My tutoring style focuses on understanding concepts, not simply getting the right answers. This emphasis improves retention and helps students apply their knowledge to new problems. I teach a variety of memorization techniques, but if the student understands a process or formula, memorization is often unnecessary. Whenever possible, I use hands-on exercises, manipulatives, and exploration to help students visualize abstract concepts and discover principles for themselves. I began my teaching career as a piano teacher in 1994, taught a pre-piano bells class & obtained licensure in Kindermusik in 1996. I obtained a BM in Piano Pedagogy in 1997. I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs. At Embry-Riddle I quickly became known as the "go to" guy for all math related questions.
