Teach students how to think, not what to think.

My teaching style is Socratic. Inquiry and discussion are my primary tools. I also teach history as an argument about the past for the students to develop rather than a set of facts and dates to be memorized. I try to teach without assigning homework.
I am currently enrolled at Northern Arizona University. I have completed three years of undergraduate study in history secondary education, have spent seventy hours working and assisting in classrooms, and earned a minor in Spanish. My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Shakespeare's written expressions, poetry, and drama uses eloquent words, old English terms, and very puzzling words that needs analysis of his message. Students enjoy Shakespeare's works once they acquired the skills in interpreting his message. some of his stories, poems , and drama are focused on horrible thoughts and justice such as "The Raven", "The Death of a Salesman", and "The Merchant of Venice".

My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Took Shakespeare in college and have studied some of his writing over the years. Have not formally taught Shakespeare, but have explored a couple of his sonnets in my class.

I believe in creating routines to add structure to the learning environment as most of my students progress better in a very structure classroom. I have been noted in my evaluations as making solid connections with most of my students by taking a personal interest in their academic progress. While I do not believe in extrinsic rewards, I will use them to motivate students when necessary. I am organized and pride myself in being able to stick to the lesson plans I have devised.

With writing skills, I prefer small groups. This makes it more productive for the learners. I teach with many visual examples and I involve the students in the learning process by helping them to realize their own weaknesses. I believe that students do not know what they are doing wrong unless I shows them along the way. Constructive criticism is integral to the process. I believe that quality trumps quantity. It is better for a student to fully understand the idea even if it means covering less material. One well-written paper is better than five papers that have the same mistakes in them. Studying one Shakespearean play in detail is better than glossing over five in order to say that I covered many plays with the students.
