A Little Bit About Me...

I think the most important part of instruction is to give the student a framework for learning. I help them solve problems by asking leading questions so that they can develop the intuition for solving problems on their own, of course introducing and explaining basic concepts when necessary. Along the way, I explain insights, tricks, and tools that I use to solve problems. I constantly emphasize and repeat these insights, tools, and tricks until the student remembers them. In this way the student is building and strengthening his intuition.
Since graduating from MIT with a degree in Math, I have worked at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, MA and Siemens AG in Munich, Germany. For the last two years, I have been a graduate student at the U in physics. I plan to earn my Ph.D. in 2009. I believe that the basis of learning is understanding the principles of the subject. If a student has a thorough knowledge of the basics, then he does not need to rely on root memorization or luck to pass classes. I believe teaching and learning the basics are far easier than simply attempting to pass a test or earn a decent grade. All subjects in the end build upon each other, a strong foundation helps not only with the current class, but with all future classes as well. Also, everyone has the ability to do well, and should be afraid of classes or subjects that are traditionally seen as dificult.
