LESSONS SHOULD ACCOMMODATE STUDENT LEARNING STYLES

I have 15 years of teaching experience with special needs students in a rural school district. During this time i provided private tutoring sessions for Elementary, Middle, High School and College students. At the college level my tutoring experience is with reading, writing, study skills and organization. Currently I develop educational programming for incarcerated youth.
My belief is that all students have different learning styles. Therefore lessons need to be individualized to meet student needs. Before I was able to tutor, I taught 7 year old girls cheerleading. When I began to tutor, I enjoyed being one on one with the child. I am very patient, punctual and considerate. I know children that need extra help need extra time. I find it personally rewarding to supplament a child's education. “ All kids learn, but not in the same way and not on the same day”. This quote was introduced to me during student teaching, and has constantly come up in my mind whenever working with children. I have learned that the only thing students have in common when in school is there grade level status.
