My focus is on each student's unique needs and skills

The key to my tutoring approach is that every student is unique. After we discuss what each student wants to focus on, I ask them to write a paper about a subject that we agree on. Then I take them through several revisions, with each revision focusing on key things they need to work on. I often recommend that students practice creating sentences and paragraphs that focus on each separate concept or skill they need to become proficient in. I follow that procedure over several appointments in which they write additional essays until my students are ready to move ahead without my assistance.

Also, I like to use the guide books for each grade that are sold in stationary areas of most stores. For tutoring in reading I've found the Leapfrog Reading Program is very helpful. I like to meet my students at the library so that I can use the resources found in the library, including the computer.
