From 2nd grade to my freshman year of college at Converse College, I took rigorous piano lessons from two teachers. Each year, I competed in several competitions, one of which was always a state-wide piano competition. After my freshman year, I decided that I wanted to be a band director, so I switched to flute (which I have had seven years of prior experience). Converse College allowed me several opportunities on both instruments. With piano, I performed in a recital and a piano duo for a semester.
