A Little Bit About Me...

During my years as an undergraduate English major, I was drawn to the world of teaching and tutoring through two part-time positions, including one on-campus, with college-aged students, and one with elementary to high school-aged students. I loved seeing my students' pleasure at learning how to comprehend the words they read, to assimilate that information into an in-depth college essay, to finally grasp that one bit of knowledge that so alluded them. I taught students with learning and behavioral disabilities, and was good at my job (and loved it). A Little Bit About Me...

The style of teaching I choose to use is based on the learning style of the student. I have been educated in the various styles of teaching and base my style on what best suits the student I am working with at the time. Most children learn from hand-on teaching, so that is a style I use most often. Working one-on-one with a student gives the tutor a chance to use various styles within the teaching efforts.
I have taught in the private sector for 6 years and public schools for one year. I have been tutoring for the past 15 years. All of this is has been grades 1-8.
