I love to help children understand a subject better. It is a great feeling to see a student get the idea after being helped. I believe that every student is capable of learning; it all depends on their learning style. In my masters program and while I have been teaching, I have learned many ways to get students engaged in the material they are learning. Some students learn better with one on one and some do better with group work. You just have to try different approaches until you see which one works best. Sometimes it just depends on what is being taught. If you show interest in the student he/she will show more interest in your class or subject area and do better.

I completed my Master's program in 2005 and received my certification in special education in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, I also received my certification in the state of Georgia. The style of teaching I choose to use is based on the learning style of the student. I have been educated in the various styles of teaching and base my style on what best suits the student I am working with at the time. Most children learn from hand-on teaching, so that is a style I use most often. Working one-on-one with a student gives the tutor a chance to use various styles within the teaching efforts.
I have taught in the private sector for 6 years and public schools for one year. I have been tutoring for the past 15 years. All of this is has been grades 1-8.
