In college, the focus of my degree was creative writing and social action. I gained extensive experience researching, writing narrative and informative papers and determining how to use the information most effectively. My creative work has been presented locally and at international conferences. After finishing my BA in Human Communications, I realized I wanted a better education for my daughters than the local school district could provide. I began an in depth study of educational philosophies and concluded that homeschooling would be in their best interest. Through educating them, I realized that I have a love for teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I hold two part-time jobs in the area of education right now. I am a resource teacher in a middle school where I help special education students and their peers in the general education classrooms to complete class work and to improve on-task behavior. I also am a tutor for a special education middle school student. I help him with his Algebra homework, writing assignments, and reading assignments. From 2008 to 2010, I was a resource teacher in an elementary school. I pulled special education students out of their classes to teach them in small groups with remedial and intervention programs. From 2006 to 2008, I was a volunteer in a resource classroom in an elementary school and an instructional aide in another elementary school.

I began teaching in a second grade classroom. After receiving my Master’s Degree in Special Education, I taught at an inner city shelter facility. Shortly thereafter, I taught online for a cyber charter school and tutored at Huntington Learning Center. I have recently taught math at the junior high school level (for 5 years), while coaching softball and basketball. Between all of my teaching experience, I have taught grades K-12 and many different subjects. I enjoy all levels of students and most subject matter. I do favor mathematics and have a fondness for students with disabilities.
