I believe that every student can meet his or her potential provided that the subject matter is presented in a way that makes sense to them and that any material can be related through the right medium. I do not adhere to any particular teaching method; rather I adapt to the student and his or her individual learning style. My first teaching experience was as a high school senior where I was given the opportunity to teach a small group of 5th graders as part of the Missouri A+ program. I am a very patient teacher who treats students with respect. It is my goal to reach all learners and meet their needs from all ability levels and cultural backgrounds. I involve students in the learning process by giving them choices and input in project development, technology integration and enrichment/acceleration. I have taught elementary school for 16 years. Learning should be fun. I strive to make a point of this when ever I teach. I do this in both lectures and tests. I find a little humor takes the edge off test taking and allows the student to concentrate on the subject matter without being nervous. First, I find what their strengths are and see if I can extend understanding of these concepts to the one's they are struggling with.
