Billy K - Webster, MA 01570 (16 mi) - ASVAB Tutor - $43.50/hr.
While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics. Also, the quantity of lab reports I have written has given me an advantage in writing non-technical reports along with technical reports. I have worked as a college math privately and through other companies. My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.

I reteach new material by working with students on their homework. I also write notes for them so that they better understand the material. I enjoy working with students and leading them to success. I am very patient and caring. I started private tutoring in 1980. I also was a home tutor for the Milton Public Schools. From 1985-1991 I was an instructional aide in a special needs class. From September 1991 to the present I have been a math instructional aide for learning disabled students at Milton High School.
