My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about. I have always had a passion for helping youth. My experience has been primarily with elementary level students including reading, math, science, the arts and English. I have been a student aide as well as a volunteer tutor at several different churches.
