As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I believe in making learning fun and engaging by relating concepts to points of interest for the individual student. Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.

I believe that children should not be taught with the expectations of failing. I go to the extreme, my students are taught by me to reach for the stars and go for the gusto. Every child has the ability to learn and as their teacher/tutor no matter how long it takes, I will get my future leaders of tomororw there. As a graduate from SUNY Cortland, I was always interested in teaching young adults to exceed their expectations. I have earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education and tutored and written curriculum for over 15 years. I have learned several teaching techniques, but the one that I prefer is the military training style. I tell them what I am going to teach, then I teach them, and then I tell them what I taught them. Finally, I require a practical application of the skills they have learned. Your child will find learning from me to be fun, enjoyable, and fulfilling. I encourage questions, and provide answers. Positive reinforcement is the key. When a student sees that an adult is taking an honest interest in them, then they are not only more willing to learn, but more able. Telling a child "I know you can do it" instead of "you can do better than that" is imperative. Even the most tempermental or unmotivated student can be helped as long as that personal connection is there. I have always found that boosting their self-confidence, and thus reducing their stress/frustration level can work wonders.
