For one semester, I taught in a junior high life-skills classroom where we practiced daily living skills and went out into the community so the students could practice skills such as locating items in a store, paying with money, and crossing the street. Then I spent my Fieldbase semester at two different schools. The first one was 4th and 5th grade students with learning disabilities. By ascertaining a student’s current knowledge and beliefs about a particular subject, I am able to help students advance to their fullest potential. I have had my Type-03 Elementary Teaching Certificate since April of 2009. I have worked as a special education aide, student taught sixth grade language arts, and in the past year I have been a substitute teacher in Winnebago and Ogle County.
