Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I had dyslexia when i was younger it was tough and nobody even noticed until second grade. I received treatment and i was very fortunate that i was still young enough to have it reversed. I remember what it was like to have dyslexia and I know how to teach someone who has it.

I'm not very old yet but i know a lot. I've babysat my younger cousins and have had experience with many animals. ( Fish, Cats, Rabbits,Dogs, and birds.)I'm free from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. weekends and summer vacation. I can tutor, babysit, and take care of animals.I know how to cook basic things so if your looking for a babysitting tutor and will be away your child will be in good hands. My strong suite is probably science and history. I can help almost anyone improve their test grades ( as long as they are trying ) I'm not the tutor for someone struggling in Math past elementary levels though because I don't think I'd be able to help anyone entering algebra. ( I find it too complicated to explain.)I'll make learning fun for your child and will definitely have fun activities to do when we have spare time. Personally I believe nobody should work for mo ... read more

My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : My current career is in Applied Behavioral Analysis and my job is to work with children who are not neurotypical for whatever the reason.

Depends on how the client learns. I spend the first few days probing based on the Applied Behavioral Analysis standard before targeting specific patterns to teach.

Kind, Knowledgable, Multi-Subject Tutor Available

I have taught all grades for several years as a teacher. My main focus has been Special Education and I am close to completing my Education Specialist Credential. I have also tutored for the Jones Reading and Math Clinics for over 10 years. I mostly tutor math at all grade levels from kindergarten through 12th grade. I also tutor earth science, writing, reading skills, history, and govenment.
I always strive to draw the student's attention to the lesson, therefore, I work most math problems with my students. I try to keep communication open and light-hearted. I want my studeents to feel free to ask questions and come to me with any problems they may have. I generally prefer hands-on learning. I try to never "lecture" and remain removed from the material the student is working on. I am very involved with the student and am not afraid to challenge them when I feel they are rea ... read more

My college studies have been in a variety of fields with the most concentration in the arts and social sciences. At the University Center for Developmental Disabilities I have gained one-on-one experience with children with autism and have learned and employed several techniques used in the Operant Conditioning model. As a Teacher Assistant, I have the responsibilities of setting goals, creating objectives for weekly sessions, and tracking and recording weekly progress. Such goals include, increasing expressive communication, decreasing specific inappropriate behaviors unique to each child, and improving academic skills such as reading, mathematics, and problem solving.
Through out my work with children diagnosed with autism I have learned and implemented B.F. Skinner's Operent Conditioning model. Although punishment is in the model, my specific teaching style only includes rein ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very one on one type of person. I want to make sure the child understands on their level of thinking, which might mean using what they use on a daily basis to explain clearer. Depending on the age of the child and what subject that needs to be taught will depend on which way I will attack the situation.
Over the past 4 years, I've worked at the Colton Community services recreatioon depatrment. As an employee I've worked in Drop-In Recreation, in which I provide my assistance in helping the children do homework and tutor them as they needed. fot the past year and a half, we've started a new program called Homework help, which is to focus more on helping the students one on one with homwwork, reading, math, projects, etc. I am currently working on getting my AA in Child Devolpment to continue my drive to become a teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students of all ages and never tire of encouraging all students to work beyond their potential and always challenge themselves. I am available to assist people of all ages to reach their personal goals. Children learn best in a safe and comfortable atmosphere, however, adult non-readers need a safe haven in order to work to their highest potentials, also. I am an extremely patient and upbeat personality, and never hesitate to answer all questions from any age students. I love to share the challenges with my students and look up information together on the computer and/or in their textbooks.
Since 1997, I have worked in the education field. First, I was an off- track teacher, working for the City of Colton. I worked as an ROP teacher in the business and computer areas. In 2001, I worked as an English teacher at Colton High School until 2004. While attending Azu ... read more

I consider my ability to observe and adapt to situations that may not be considered ordinary as an advantage. Through education, I have developed techniques that enhance my analytical and critical thinking skills. My closest linguistic “friends” in life are How, What, When, Where, Who, and Why. With their help and the help of others, I know I will succeed as a teacher and student. I am a perpetual pupil and will remain so until the end. I also draw upon my experiences as a husband, parent, son, brother, friend, and associate when assessing interactions and conversations with those individuals I come into contact with on a daily basis. We are all here and together for such a short time, and time is an irreplaceable asset. Therefore, it only stands to reason that moments of learning should not be wasted. I consider teaching to be a privilege as well as a serious responsibility, and I will ... read more
